The Science Fair is a fun opportunity for students to design and perform a science experiment and then share it with other students at Hastings. Student participants will decide on the subject matter of the experiment, perform the experiments at home, and then create a display or Google slideshow explaining their work and results.
New format for 2022: Each student scientist will share their project either by creating a Google slideshow (max. 8 slides) or a physical display board where they explain their project and answer the 4 Big Questions (see Science Fair Display and Presentation Information link below for more details). Students will upload their Google slides (strongly preferred format) or a photo of their display board by Friday, February 4th. Students will have a chance to virtually present and visit other students’ projects in a virtual science fair on Friday, February 11th from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Gather.

Details about the LIVE event on Gather: Every student who submits a project by the February 4th deadline will have their project displayed in a virtual Science Fair hall in Gather!
Each student scientist will be assigned a 20-minute timeslot between 6:00-8:00PM on Friday, February 11th, where they can create a virtual character in Gather and stand near their uploaded project slides to present their work to Hastings friends through a group video chat. Science fair coordinators and moderators will also be present during the event to interact with the student scientists and answer any questions. If you are unable to attend the live event on February 11th, you can still have your poster available for viewing in Gather.
This is not a competition, and participation in the Hastings Science Fair is optional. Each participating student scientist will receive an official Hastings Science Fair medal.
