MA Teacher of the Year - Mr Washington

"The winner of the Teacher of the Year in all of Massachusetts is fourth-grade teacher De'Shawn Washington," Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education Jeffrey C. Riley announced at a school assembly on Friday.

Yes!  Our very own Mr Washington is the Massachusetts Teacher of the Year.  We are so very proud and honored to have Mr Washington as part of our Hastings community.

Spirit Wear Week!

When: Monday, November 20 - Wednesday, November 22

Where: Maria Hastings School

We have an opportunity to show our Hastings Spirit the week of Thanksgiving by wearing our favorite Hastings attire or simply dressing in Hastings colors of blue and yellow!

You could wear your Hastings Harvest Run or Bike Train t-shirt, any items you have purchased from the Hastings store.  Maybe a sibling has passed down some retro Hastings items?  We would love to see anything and everything Hastings.

Square 1 Art - Nov 22nd Deadline

During art class this fall, each Hastings student has created a work of art to be featured on a variety of products available for purchase. Personalized catalogs should now be with you.

All orders are placed online or via phone and products ship directly home.

These personalized products make fun keepsakes for children and their families and excellent holiday gifts for grandparents and other family members.

Hastings PTO receives a percentage of the profits and our profit percentage increases as our participation level increases. That means that just one mug ordered can have a big impact on our success with this fundraiser!

Any questions?  Please contact Liz Sullivan at egksulli@gmail.com

Parent Teacher Organization Meeting

Last Wednesday, November 8th, PTO Presidents Emma Harding and Mallik Greene, Principal Wai and a group of parents met at Hastings for the first of this year's PTO meetings.  Thank you to the new families that came out, it is always wonderful to meet new members of the Hastings community.  This casual chat allowed for great conversation and sharing of ideas.

The below slides will provide a snap shot of what is to come this year.  If you have any questions, comments or concerns please reach out to hastingspresidents@gmail.com, we are always excited to connect.

Lexington Community Messages
Sheltered Families

Lexington is hosting over 30 families who are temporarily sheltered in town, with elementary, middle, and high school students. They are in urgent need of the basics, warm clothing and coats.

A consortium of local groups has set up a fund to provide for this immediate need. We will be purchasing for the young children and adults immediately. Sheltered Families Fund: http://bit.ly/468likf

There is also an Amazon gift list for consumables, gift cards, and jackets which we will keep updated. Gift Cards will be used by schools to buy needed clothing items:  https://tinyurl.com/Lex-supplies-Amazon

In the longer term, there will be a need for ESL lessons and activities for the kids.  We also will eventually ask for books, toys, clothing donations from the community.

If you can help please fill in this form: https://tinyurl.com/Lex-refugee-help

We do not have storage for donations at this time.   We are asking the community to please DO NOT drop off donated items to any locations or individuals. We will provide an update once a centralized location has been identified.

Thank you for all your giving!
