Room Parent Volunteer Form

Please consider volunteering to be a room parent. It is a wonderful way to get to know other parents and your child’s teacher, as well as to make a valuable contribution to the Hastings Community. Below is information to help you decide if it is the right opportunity for you.

The role may vary from classroom to classroom depending on the teacher’s needs; however, the focus is on being a liaison between the teacher and the parents regarding activities and volunteer opportunities in the classroom.

Some highlights include:

  • Coordinating classroom activities (i.e. holiday crafts) and teacher gifts
  • Coordinating parent volunteers for classroom needs
  • Collecting funds from parents to support activities
  • Scholastic book program if desired by teacher
  • Communicate information from the PTO to the parents

(These roles can be divided amongst the room parents from each class as you see fit.)

Our goal would be to have at least one Room Parent assigned to each classroom before the year begins and to ultimately have 3 per classroom.

We will have a Room Parent Orientation meeting in early September (date TBA). At that meeting I/we will review the role of a Room Parent and listen to any suggestions you may have for the upcoming year.

If you have any questions about becoming a Room Parent, please feel free to e-mail the room parent chair, Beverly Montgomery.

Please send an email to roomparents@hastings-pto.org if you are interested in being a room parent as you have already received your child/children’s classroom assignment.
