Moving to a new school, a new town, a new country can be daunting for everyone in a family. At Hastings we want to ensure that all new Hastings families feel welcomed and settled as quickly as possible. The Welcome Committee is one way in which we try and achieve this. We are SEEKING ADDITIONAL MEMBERS TO JOIN the existing Welcome Committee.
The work of the Welcome Committee is both reactive and proactive. New families are encouraged to contact the Welcome Committee via a google form. As a member of the Welcome Committee you would email back in a timely manner with helpful information. Depending on the family’s request this may be information about Hastings, living in Lexington and/or making connections with other Hastings families in similar grades/classrooms.
In addition, the Committee sets up an informal New Family Meet-Up at the Hastings Playground late summer, typically the weekend before school starts. You will also work with the Co-Presidents to plan and execute the Welcome Coffee. The Committee is encouraged to develop additional outreach aspects of the Committees role.
